Private Universities in Meghalaya - Dr. T.K Kharbamon of Martin Luther Christian University, Dr. Paul Bhaggien of NorthEast Adventist University, Dr. Soma Bhowmick of William Carey University Dr. Manjeet Kaur of CMJ University, Dr. Malhar Pangrikar of MIT University of Meghalaya, Dr. Sarika Dixit Registrar of Mahatma Gandhi University, and representatives from USTM, recently assembled for a significant meeting with the Shri. Pravin Bakshi IAS, Commissioner and Secretary, Government of Meghalaya.

The agenda of the meeting was centered around the establishment of SWAYAM (Study Webs of Active-Learning for Young Aspiring Minds) examination centers in key locations across Meghalaya.

SWAYAM, India's online education initiative, offers a plethora of self-learning opportunities. It democratises education, granting learners access to a diverse range of courses taught by top instructors. The platform facilitates self-paced learning, accommodating individual schedules. SWAYAM certifications hold national recognition, validating acquired knowledge for academic and professional pursuits. Bridging geographical gaps, it empowers learners from remote areas, promoting inclusivity.

SWAYAM revolutionizes learning, making it flexible, inclusive, and nationally relevant. Therefore, the establishment of SWAYAM examination centers in Meghalaya would further enhance access to quality education for students in the region.

During the meeting, the Vice Chancellors expressed their concerns on the non-availability of centers for the examination to be made available in the state. They highlighted the importance of having SWAYAM examination centers in the locations such as Shillong, Jowai, and Tura, which would serve as convenient hubs for students from various districts.

Shri. Pravin Bakshi IAS acknowledged the significance of the proposal and assured the Vice Chancellors of the government's commitment to expanding the reach of SWAYAM. He appreciated the proactive approach of the private universities in Meghalaya and emphasized the need for a collaborative effort to ensure the success of such initiatives.
